LOUP NOIR
Two opposing horses. A clear geometry. A name once used in secrecy.
Founded in 2010, LOUP NOIR designs luxury bags and accessories in Stuttgart with clear form and precise construction.
The city forms the creative lab of the brand – an environment shaped by architecture, engineering and design, where structure and form naturally converge.
Origin
The roots trace back to “Stutengarten”, the ducal horse stud of the Dukes of Württemberg in southern Germany.
In the 19th century, Wilhelm I of Württemberg brought luxurious Arabian horses from the Middle East to Württemberg – valued for their strength, endurance and composure.
Two of them, Bairactar and Murana, became symbols of strength and grace.
From this historical context the defining motif of LOUP NOIR developed: two opposing horses set before a precise geometric composition. Independent yet connected. Movement and order stand in tension with one another and form a balanced whole.
A Name in Secrecy
The name LOUP NOIR goes back to the family history of one of the founders. At the beginning of the 20th century, a member of the family, the explorer and writer Hermann Freyberg, travelled through West and Central Africa.
During his activities as an undercover agent in the diamond trade he operated under the codename “Loup Noir”. The name later became the identity of the house.
The geometric structure behind the motif reflects this origin: it is inspired by the cubic form of raw diamond crystals and lends clarity and dimension.
The Signature
A travel trunk from his expeditions in Africa remains in the possession of the family to this day, marked with his initials. What once served as identification is now consciously designed.
The designs of the house may be personalised with the initials of their owners – applied in carefully built layers of colour on canvas or embossed into leather. The technique requires precision and ensures durability. This creates a piece with an individual signature.
Between Paris and Italy
Today LOUP NOIR develops between travel and Paris – in the Saint-Germain apartment of the designers, whose eclectic atmosphere is shaped by art and cultural curiosity. There, proportions are examined, lines sharpened and collections are further developed before they take form in Italy.
The designs are produced exclusively in Italy using the finest materials sourced from leading Italian manufacturers through technically specialised hubs. Every LOUP NOIR piece is entirely made in Italy.
The Composition
Unlike classic all-over patterns, each bag and each accessory features a deliberately placed design. Every panel carries its own developed motif so that lines and transitions meet precisely. The print evolves around the form – and the form around the print.
This process requires time, technical understanding and creative control. The result: a coherent whole.
LOUP NOIR develops designs in which form and graphics exist in effortless balance.
